Senator Kasim Reed Endorses Barack Obama For President
Cites Obama's ability to Unite Georgians to Bring Change We Can Believe In

ATLANTA , GA – State Senator Kasim Reed (D – District 35) today endorsed U.S. Senator Barack Obama for President, saying his ability to unite Democrats, Independents and Republicans will build a coalition to take back the White House in 2008 and to bring change we can believe in to America.

" Barack Obama is uniquely qualified to unite our country and be an agent of change at a time when our nation faces great challenges," said Senator Reed . " Barack Obama began his career in public service serving poor communities in Chicago that had little hope and opportunity, and for 20 years he has taken on the special interests to bring change we can believe in.   I have been inspired by the coalition of supporters of all ages, races, and walks of life he built in Iowa and is building around the country, and I believe he gives Georgia Democrats our best chance of retaking the White House in 2008 and building the coalition necessary to bring change as President."

" Senator Reed is a dynamic leader who has fought tirelessly for Georgia families and I am proud to have his support," said Barack Obama . "On issues from health care to education to community improvement, he knows what it takes to bring people together for change we can believe in."

Senator Reed has served Georgians in the State Legislature since 1998.  He serves on the Senate Ethics Committee , Judiciary Committee, Special Judiciary Committee, Urban Affairs Committee, Transportation Committee, and the State and Local Government Operations Committee.   Senator Reed is the Vice Chair of the Democrat Senate Caucus and Chairs the Democratic State Senate Campaign Committee.
